A Comprehensive Eye Exam is an assessment of the health and functioning of your eyes and the determination of whether glasses are needed. Testing includes visual acuity, eye muscle coordination, pupil function, color vision, spectacle refraction (glasses prescription), intraocular pressure (glaucoma test), lens clarity (cataract check), and retinal health with or without pupillary dilation. Regular eye exams ensure proper visual functioning and good ocular health.
At The Eye Center, we strive to tailor each patient's glasses to their unique needs. We believe that no one set of lenses works for everyone, therefore we use some of the best products in the industry to deliver the latest and best technology to our patients. Our mission is to learn the needs of our patients and recommend the best options available to provide them the most functional and clear vision, ensuring their satisfaction.
In the ever-expanding world of contact lenses, it is important to have contact lenses properly fit and prescribed by an optometrist.
Contact lenses can correct for nearsightedness, farsightedness, and for astigmatism. There are several lens options available, ranging from monthly replacement to daily replacement, and ranging from single vision to bifocal or monovision. We discuss and select what will work best for each patient's unique visual requirements.
We also perform specialty contact lens fittings for irregular corneas, and for conditions such as keratoconus.
A contact lens fitting begins with teaching a patient how to properly insert and remove a contact lens. We also go over the basics of healthy contact lens wear, seen here. Upon successful completion, they are given trial contact lenses to practice with at home and typically return to the office one week later for a follow-up appointment to assess contact lens fit and vision. We then make small modifications, until we achieve the best vision possible for each patient's lifestyle and visual demands.
Here at Eye Center Inc., we take your eye health seriously. We are fully trained and capable of managing all of your eye care needs. It is recommended that everyone have a routine comprehensive eye exam every year.
Early and regular eye examinations are important to ensure that children have normal, healthy eyes and clear, focused vision. Vision screenings (like those at school or at the pediatrician's office) can miss many common visual disorders, which can lead to problems in learning and development. Since children often don’t know that the vision they are experiencing is abnormal, they don’t know to ask for help. Regular, comprehensive eye exams are therefore your best tool to detect these problems early and accurately and provide your child with the best start possible.
Eye discomfort or problems with vision can happen unexpectedly at any time. That's why at Eye Center, Inc. we care for patients with any kind of eye condition that may occur. Even if we have a full schedule, our doctors routinely see patients the same day for unscheduled eye emergencies. Your vision is irreplaceable and we understand that sudden changes in vision or the development of eye pain or discomfort need to be taken care of immediately.
Many conditions of the eyes can become worse over time and can even become sight-threatening. If you are experiencing new symptoms with your vision or with the appearance or comfort of your eyes, contact us right away so that one of our doctors can evaluate you and begin the appropriate treatment. Examples of some of these symptoms might be:
*Sudden loss or interruption of vision
*Injuries to the eye
*Sudden appearance of a red eye
*Sudden double vision
*The feeling of something being in the eye
*Floaters and/or flashes
*Eyelid swelling or bumps on the eyelid
These are just some of the more common examples of possible reasons to see one of our doctors for immediate treatment. Whether the treatment requires a prescription for eye drops, removal of a foreign object from the eye, spectacle or contact lens correction, or long-term care, our board-certified optometrists are experts at evaluating and managing all types of eye conditions.
